Brookland Strings offers a nurturing environment for both budding musicians and seasoned players. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to refine their skills, we are here to guide you on your musical journey.
Our four lesson packages are tailored to meet the needs of your child’s age, violin level, and personal preferences.

Recommended for students new to violin and/or in PreTwinkle through Suzuki Book 2, as well as students in PreK through 2nd Grade.
A parent/caregiver is encouraged to be in attendance in order to support the student and be ready to guide them during practice outside of class.

Some families learn best when they are together, so this is a great option for grown-ups who want to learn violin alongside their aspiring musician.
The student + parent/caregiver option is best for beginner students, ages 4-8, and their adult.

Transitioning to independent violin lessons can foster self-reliance, focus, and problem-solving skills in the student as they progress. It's also an opportunity for the student to take more ownership over their musical journey.
Recommended for Suzuki Books 3-5, or for students in Grades 3-6.

Ideal for more advanced students, this lesson allows for a deeper dive into more complex musical concepts and techniques, as well as addressing and spending time on specific challenges while providing tailored feedback.
Recommended for students in Suzuki Books 6+, or students in Grades 7-12.

Studio Policies
Lesson Packages
All lesson packages include 30 lessons, 10 group classes, and 2 recitals for the 2024-2025 term. Lessons are scheduled weekly based on mutual availability, and group classes are once monthly from September through June. Lessons are taught in-person at Dr. Yanik’s home studio in Brookland or virtually on Zoom.
Practice Policy
All students are expected to practice daily outside of the lesson. Please discuss with Dr. Yanik about the appropriate practice schedule/routine for your child.
Attendance Policy
Prompt attendance in lessons and group class is required. Lessons may be rescheduled in the event of an illness, family emergency, or religious observance. Makeup lessons cannot be guaranteed for travel outside of normal school holidays, soccer games (and the like), or scheduling mishaps. There are no refunds for a missed lesson or group class.
Other Fees
Missed or late payments: $75
Payments other than ‘Friends or Family’: 4% of invoice
Piano accompanist rehearsal: $75+
